XIII is not a single design. It is a series of one.

Each plate shares the same form — wheel-thrown by hand in the studio of Catalan ceramicist Carme Balada, finished in a luminous white glaze, 22 centimetres across — but carries a motif that exists nowhere else. Painted by hand in oxide before the final firing, the mark on each piece is unrepeatable: a bare tree, a scatter of points across the surface, a line that goes somewhere and stops. No theme. No series logic. Just the particular thing that Balada's hand produced on that day, on that plate, in that moment.

The white ground is the constant. Everything else changes.

When you order XIII, you receive a plate. Which plate — which mark, which placement, which gesture — is not known in advance. What is known is that no other plate in the series carries the same one. This is not a limitation. It is the point.

The reverse carries the raw stoneware base and Balada's handwritten mark — the only signature a piece like this needs.
