Among the most formally complex pieces in Carme Balada's series, this lidded vessel asks a question that most ceramics avoid: what happens when the object closes? The answer, here, is that it becomes complete — a form that reads as sculpture when the lid is on, and reveals a second life when it is removed.

Hand-thrown in two parts and finished by hand, the fit between body and lid is deliberate — snug enough to feel considered, loose enough to feel made rather than manufactured. The glaze, applied across both elements, creates continuity of surface even as the form articulates into two distinct objects.

Use it to hold salt on a kitchen counter, small objects on a desk, or nothing at all on a shelf. At €450, it is Balada's most ambitious functional piece — and the one most likely to be passed down.

Because every piece is made and glazed by hand, surface colour and texture will vary slightly between firings. What arrives is singular — a record of one specific moment in the kiln.
